Microneedling Exminster, Exeter & Devon
Professional microneedling for smoother, healthier-looking skin
Skin. Results. Confidence.
Looking for microneedling in Exminster or Exeter? At Curl-Up Beauty, I offer personalised microneedling treatments designed to improve the appearance of skin texture, fine lines, uneven skin and selected types of acne scarring.
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, works with your skin’s natural repair processes to encourage collagen production and gradual skin renewal.
As an experienced skin specialist, my approach is centred on understanding your skin, choosing appropriate treatments and helping you achieve realistic, natural-looking results.
Whether you are concerned about early signs of ageing, uneven texture or the appearance of acne scars, your treatment plan will be tailored to your individual needs.
Beautiful skin isn’t about perfection. It’s about helping your skin look and feel its best.

What is microneedling?
Microneedling is an advanced skin treatment that uses a professional electronic device fitted with a sterile, single-use needle cartridge.
The fine needles create tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin, triggering a natural wound-healing response. This process encourages collagen production and tissue remodelling, which can gradually improve the appearance and texture of the skin.
Collagen is an important structural protein that helps support the skin’s firmness and resilience. As we age, collagen production and the organisation of collagen fibres change, contributing to fine lines, textural changes and loss of firmness.
By stimulating the skin’s natural repair processes, microneedling can help improve selected skin concerns over time.
Unlike treatments that focus primarily on surface exfoliation, microneedling aims to stimulate a deeper repair response. Results develop gradually over the weeks and months following treatment.
At Curl-Up Beauty in Exminster, every treatment is approached individually, with careful consideration of your skin, your concerns and your suitability for the procedure.
What can microneedling help with?
Microneedling can be beneficial for several common skin concerns, although results depend on the individual and the condition being treated.
Fine lines and signs of ageing
Microneedling stimulates collagen remodelling, which may help soften the appearance of fine lines and improve skin texture.
The aim is a gradual improvement in skin quality rather than the complete removal of wrinkles.
Uneven skin texture
If your skin feels rough or looks uneven, microneedling may help refine its texture by encouraging the natural renewal and repair process.
Over time, skin may appear smoother and more even.
Acne scarring
Microneedling can help improve the appearance of certain indented acne scars by stimulating collagen remodelling within the affected areas.
The best results are generally associated with selected shallow, indented scars. Deep or tethered scars may require other treatments or specialist assessment.
Microneedling is not suitable over active inflammatory acne.
Enlarged-looking pores
Although pores cannot be permanently removed, improving the surrounding skin texture may help make them appear less prominent.
Results will depend on the cause of the enlarged appearance and your individual skin.
Uneven skin tone and pigmentation
Some forms of uneven pigmentation may respond to an appropriate skin treatment plan. However, microneedling is not suitable for every pigmentation concern and can sometimes make pigmentation worse, particularly in skin prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Your skin will be assessed carefully before treatment, and an alternative approach may be recommended where appropriate.
Mild loss of firmness
By stimulating collagen production and remodelling, microneedling may provide a modest improvement in skin firmness and resilience.
It cannot reproduce the lifting effects of surgery or significantly tighten substantial loose skin.
Overall skin quality
Sometimes the goal is simply healthier-looking skin.
For suitable clients, microneedling may help improve the appearance of texture, fine lines and overall skin refinement, leaving skin looking smoother and more even.
How does microneedling work?
Microneedling works by encouraging your skin’s own repair mechanisms.
1. Controlled micro-injuries
A professional microneedling device creates tiny channels in the skin using a sterile, single-use needle cartridge.
2. Natural skin repair
Your body responds to this controlled stimulation by initiating a wound-healing process.
3. Collagen remodelling
As the skin repairs itself, collagen production and tissue remodelling help support improvements in skin structure and texture.
4. Gradual visible results
Over the following weeks and months, the treated skin may become smoother and more refined as the healing process progresses.
This is why microneedling is not an instant-fix treatment. The most meaningful improvements develop gradually, and your skin needs time to heal between sessions.
What results can you realistically expect?
At Curl-Up Beauty, I believe in honest advice and realistic expectations.
Microneedling can improve the appearance of selected skin concerns, but it cannot guarantee a particular result. Your outcome will depend on your skin, the concern being treated, the treatment plan and your healing response.
| Skin concern | Realistic treatment goal |
|---|---|
| Fine lines | A softer appearance and improved texture |
| Uneven skin | Smoother, more refined-looking skin |
| Enlarged-looking pores | Pores may appear less noticeable |
| Indented acne scars | Reduced visibility of some scars |
| Selected pigmentation concerns | Possible improvement in uneven tone |
| Mild loss of firmness | Modest improvement in skin quality |
| General skin texture | A smoother, more even appearance |
What microneedling cannot do
Microneedling cannot erase every wrinkle, eliminate pores, completely remove acne scars or permanently reverse the ageing process.
It will not produce the same results as surgery, and it is not the right treatment for every skin concern.
Deep scarring, pronounced wrinkles, significant skin laxity and certain pigmentation conditions may need a different approach.
My aim is to help you achieve worthwhile, natural-looking improvements without promising perfection or recommending treatments you do not need.
How many microneedling treatments will I need?
The number of sessions depends on your skin and your goals.
- One treatment: may be a starting point for improving selected aspects of skin quality.
- A course of three treatments: may be appropriate for some concerns, depending on your skin’s response.
- Four to six treatments: may be considered for more established textural concerns or selected types of scarring.
These are general guides rather than guaranteed treatment plans. Sessions are usually spaced several weeks apart, often around four to six weeks or longer, depending on your skin’s recovery and the treatment protocol.
Your progress should be assessed over time. Collagen remodelling continues after the initial healing period, so improvements may take several months to become fully apparent.
Following your consultation, I will explain what may be achievable for your skin and whether a course of treatment is appropriate.
There is no obligation to commit to multiple sessions.
Your microneedling treatment at Curl-Up Beauty
Your treatment begins with understanding your skin and establishing whether microneedling is right for you.
1. Personal consultation
We will discuss your concerns, skincare routine, medical history, medications and expectations. Your skin will be assessed, and we will consider whether microneedling is a suitable option.
2. A personalised treatment plan
I will explain the proposed treatment, potential benefits, limitations, risks, expected recovery and costs before you decide whether to proceed.
If microneedling is not suitable, I may recommend an alternative treatment or further professional advice.
3. Professional microneedling
Your treatment will use a specialist microneedling device and a sterile, single-use needle cartridge. The approach will be selected according to your skin and the agreed treatment objectives.
4. Post-treatment care and Dermalux LED
Your treatment package includes suitable post-treatment skincare and Dermalux LED light therapy where appropriate for your skin and the treatment protocol.
These are intended to support comfort and recovery, rather than guarantee a particular result.
5. Personalised aftercare
You will receive guidance on caring for your skin while it recovers, including cleansing, moisturising, sun protection and when to reintroduce your usual skincare products.
Is there any downtime after microneedling?
Yes. Some redness and sensitivity are expected because microneedling deliberately initiates a skin-healing response.
Immediately after treatment, your skin may look flushed, similar to mild sunburn. You may also experience warmth, tightness, tenderness, mild swelling or dryness. Some people experience light flaking over the following days.
Redness often settles within 24–48 hours, although recovery varies and can take longer.
You should follow your personalised aftercare instructions, including advice about sun exposure, exercise, heat, swimming, makeup and active skincare products.
Although most temporary reactions settle as the skin heals, microneedling carries risks. These include infection, prolonged inflammation, scarring and changes in pigmentation, which can occasionally be persistent.
Professional assessment, appropriate hygiene, suitable technique and careful aftercare are essential.

Is microneedling suitable for everyone?
Microneedling is not appropriate for every person or every skin condition.
Treatment may need to be postponed or avoided if you have active inflammatory acne, a skin infection, cold sores in the treatment area, impaired wound healing, a history of keloid scarring or certain medical conditions or medications that affect healing or bleeding.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, a history of pigmentation problems and recent skin treatments also need to be discussed during your consultation.
Please disclose relevant medical conditions, medications and allergies so that your suitability can be assessed properly. Medical advice may be required before treatment.
A consultation is required before your first treatment, and treatment will only proceed if it is considered appropriate.

Frequently asked questions about microneedling
Is microneedling painful?
Comfort levels vary. You may experience a scratching or prickling sensation, warmth or temporary discomfort. Your experience depends on your skin, the treatment area and the treatment approach.
Your comfort and suitability will be discussed before treatment.
When will I see results?
Your skin may look temporarily flushed immediately after treatment. Meaningful improvements develop more gradually as the skin heals and collagen remodelling takes place over the following weeks and months.
Can microneedling remove acne scars?
It may improve the appearance of certain indented acne scars, but results vary according to the type and severity of scarring. Complete removal cannot be guaranteed, and deeper scars may need alternative treatments.
Can I wear makeup after microneedling?
You should avoid makeup until your skin has recovered sufficiently, following your specific aftercare advice. This helps reduce the risk of irritation and infection.
Is microneedling better than a facial or chemical peel?
These treatments work in different ways and address different concerns. A facial may focus on cleansing, hydration and relaxation, while chemical peels work through controlled exfoliation. Microneedling stimulates a wound-healing response and collagen remodelling.
The most suitable treatment depends on your skin, your goals and your suitability for each procedure.
Do I need to buy skincare products?
No. There is no obligation to purchase additional products. I will provide appropriate aftercare and provide 2 vials of Pro Restore to use after your treatment. However your skin does need to be in a GOOD place prior to treatment and this will be discussed at your consultation. I will however provide advice and explain which products may be beneficial for your skin’s recovery.
